Problems

-Before joining the EU they had an inefficient system for public services, Once they joined the EU they improved their public services, however still not up to par with the other countries in the EU such as France and England.

- Due to the deforestation country’s mammals are getting endangered.

- The government must also consider future elections, as citizens rarely vote for the state of the envrionment over the economy.

- Due to the unplanned cutting and forestation, it depleted stands. 

- Although there is clean drinking water, Spain is going through water pollution caused by industrial and agricultural sources. 

- The Mediterranean is the most polluted sea in the world, therefor Spain goes through the consequences that comes along with that. 

- Because of the tectonic movements, the sea and the land levels are changing, creating a climate change such as in Valencia.

- Non-renewable energy sources used are 8 operative nuclear reactors; gas, coal and oil.

- Spain will be one of the areas most effected by climate change, adding that a 1 degree tempeture change pushes the boundries of wine making.

- Spain could be the hardest hit by climate change, according to the commission white paper, which predicts that food harvests could fall 30 per cent in the region because of a lack of water.

- There has been an increase in the number of heat waves as in 2006, when thousands of people died and reservoirs such as the one in Ancora, Spain, right, dried out.

- The reduction in agricultural production could have a dramatic social impact, the report said, “where whole local rural populations could be affected if the local farmland was abandoned or if the local farming profitability was reduced substantially”.
